Generally, there are 4 (four) types of HPMC additives available in the market. These are classified according to their viscosity level, and used for different purposes.

Medium to low viscosity HPMC (20,000 – 40,000 mPa) is used as tile adhesive, thermal insulation mortar, and joint-filler, etc. Medium viscosity HPMC (75,000 mPa – 100,000 mPa) is useful for wall putty. High viscosity HPMC (150,000 – 200,000 mPa) is useful for thermal insulation mortar powder. Besides, HPMC is classified into hot-dissolving, and fast-dissolving categories too.
